Achs and Pains
I never was too athletic, but kind of prided myself as I got into my 60s that I could get up and down the stairs of our RV rather gingerly. I also took pride when I would swing my right leg into the car and position myself with ease and felt good that I didn't need one of those handicap stickers. What happened when I turned 70? All of a sudden going up and down the stairs was with some pain, and sometimes it seemed the legs would give out on me. Lifting my leg into the driver's seat had a stabbing pain in my knee. I went through 12 years of Catholic education, and the nuns and brothers who were my teachers spoke of using your pain as a means of aiding people stuck in purgatory to get to heaven. When I was young, I sat like I had a ramrod up my back as I knelt in church, and all that pain committed to the repose of those lost souls. I think that's how it went. Now I suffer and look for Tylenol or some other pain killer. Somehow I'm just not the silent sufferer that I was before. But, now let me count my blessings! I have nearly 20/20 eye sight. I have good reports when I have a physical about the overall working of this old body. I have a wife who loves me and is a joy to have at my side. I have two sheltie dogs who wag their tail as I come home. Our RV runs well, and provides us a comfortable home to live in. We have adequate finances and I hope there will be nothing to change the situation. I thank God for what I do have! -- Amen
